The heroic story of New York Yankee Lou Gehrig, one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

Known as the “Iron Horse,” Gehrig played in 2,130 consecutive baseball games before contracting the deadly nerve disease which now bears his name. He was 37 years old. 

The movie traces Gehrig’s life from his childhood to his famous ‘Luckiest Man’ speech at his farewell day in 1939. It also tells the story of a man facing certain death with courage and dignity.

This theatrical tribute to a baseball legend was released within 13 months of Gehrig’s death.

Starring Gary Cooper, Teresa Wright, Babe Ruth and Walter Brennan.

The Pride of the Yankees won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Gary Cooper) and Best Actress (Teresa Wright).
