Young musicians from Grays Harbor have been selected to perform at the 7th Street Theatre on Friday, May 13 at 7:30 pm. Local music teachers have nominated their most skillful artists for the Young Artist Showcase. Michael Fagerstedt, last year’s top high school baritone in Washington state, will be featured along with Micah Hollen, last year’s Northwest Silver Medalist in the Seattle Chopin Competition. The concert will be hosted by Miss Grays Harbor’s Outstanding Teen, Grace Aiken.
Besides soloing, Fagerstedt will perform two duets and a trio with other singers, two of which are his brother, Ben, and his sister, Lauren. The three Fagerstedts are students of Christine Hill. Another family that performs together are Stephanie, Alana, and Hailey Evenson. They will play a four hands duet and a six hands trio, all on one piano. The concert comprises various genres such as classical, pop, and musical theatre. In many cases the pieces were performed at local, regional, and statewide contests. Board member and program director Ken McDonald states, “There is no better venue for young local talent than the Young Artist Showcase at the 7th Street Theatre.”
Additional performers are: Analei Holt, Kendall Cavin, and Shayli Burlingame, students of Christine Hill; Micah Hollen, Kendra Gross, and Tyler Marchese, students of Erica Hollen; James Krack and Daniella Mora-Lamperein, students of Ellen Pickell; Autumn McGiveron and Jessah Kiah, students of Kari Hasbrouck; and Christina Shaffer, student of Connie Bevington. The Evensens are students of Merry Jo Zimmer.
