Roy Reinertsen is an upcoming Blues-Folk-Country singer and acoustic guitar player. After playing solo for many years Roy is now backed onstage by The Oarsmen. The Oarsmen comprises of Nate Ranken, Bass Guitar, and Patrick Mehan, Drummer. Roy and the band are based in Olympia. A compassionate guy, Roy is a full-time nurse at the Panorama in Lacey, a retirement community. An avid traveler he has travelled extensively in Europe, and lived in Canada, and South Korea where he taught English. Roy actively plays in local cafes, fairs and festivals in the Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle area. He has been playing at the Montesano Lake Sylvia Festival for the past three years.
Roy started playing guitar in high school after his mother gave him a collection of Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. Later on he was drawn to the traditional music of Woody Guthrie, Bukka White, Son House, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Rogers, and Randy Newman. Roy’s songs are original and soulful and have the traditional theme of heartbreak and being a drunk, and a storyline that usually resolves at the end. He finds spirituality in his music. Not finding anything as interesting and meaningful as his own name, he named his first studio album “Roy Reinertsen” that he recorded last year.
The 7th Street Concert will be Roy’s first big production and will catapult him to become a mainstream musician. During the first part of the show Roy will be playing solo, mostly songs from his first album. The Oarsmen will join Roy during the second part of the show and will be playing songs from Roy’s first album and the upcoming album of the band.
Visit Roy’s website or Facebook page to get more details about the band, concert, listen to Roy’s music and videos from past shows, and updates.
Our special guest at the show will be Kelsey Bergey, Contralto & Voice Instructor
Ms. Bergey is a classically trained singer. Her favored repertoire is classical art songs, opera, gospel and some folk. Ms. Bergey will be opening Roy’s 7th Street Concert with a selection of opera arias in Italian, French, and English.
