Two of our volunteers, Bob Martin and Betsy Seidel, have been actively involved in helping us with the organ project. Several months ago they were informed that a gentleman from Seattle had passed away and the executor of his estate was looking for a home for his pipe organ. With the help of the Puget Sound Theatre Organ Society, we were able to procure this organ, which is in excellent condition. It is a Wurlitzer pipe organ with a “toy box” and we plan to use it for parts when we are able to raise the funds to install the organ. It is being stored in the LaVogue Building in Hoquiam for now, as the original organ parts are already taking up most of the space under the seats at theatre.

It’s a charming, witty, G-rated film that never condescends to its audience and has been enjoyed by millions of adults as well as children. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards. And its main character is a pig, actually the runt of the litter.

It’s “Babe,” the 1995 Australian movie about a wise old farmer and his ambitious little pig who goes a long way.

A big part of the film’s $30 million budget went into a barnyard full of highly realistic animatronic critters – Babe the pig, Fly the sheepdog, and more than a dozen others. The human cast is headed by Farmer Hoggett, played by James Cromwell, a veteran actor with over 160 screen roles and a single Oscar nomination, for “Babe.”

Locally sponsored by Jeff Cook & Becky Walsh, Grays Harbor College, Great Northwest Federal Credit Union, Levee Feed & Pet Supply, and Swanson’s Foods.
