Check out the article on today's Daily World about last night's wonderful reopening, the Starlight Celebration. We had about 600 people show up to celebrate! The stage sets were beautiful for this year's 7th Street Kids musical production, Arabian Nights, which opened on July 24th and ran through July 26th, 2009. Over 50 children were in this year's play, and numerous adult volunteers helped with every aspect of production. Would you like to view more photos of this year's show? The 7th Street Kids having been presenting musical performances at the 7th Street Theatre since 1992. This year's production of Arabian Nights was especially wonderful, and significant for the Kids since it's the first performance where the theatre's new rigging was used by the Kids' crew. Here are some pictures of the crowd lineup before and the first group of people exiting the theatre on Friday July 24, 2009.

Push Rods teamed up with the 7th Street's showing of American Graffiti on June 20. We had 350 attend Saturday's screening, and 35 Push Rods lined the street in front of the theatre. Johnny Ray performed from the bed of a '49 Chev flatbed. Good times! You can see pictures on our Picasa album.

Here's 11-year-old Angelique, who won the bike Saturday night at our raffle. This awesome bike was refurbished by Stafford Creek Correctional Industries, who donated this along with two hand-made birdhouses and a crocheted afghan for our raffle. Congratulations Angelique!

Things have been pretty crazy here at the 7th Street Theatre, and I decided we needed to have something new on our blog. This is a shot I took last night while Cool Hand Luke was playing. It's a nice thing to see this activity taking place again around downtown Hoquiam. There have been events every week since we reopened on January 25th after being closed for four months for renovations.

Some Like it Hot, screened on Valentine's Day weekend this year, had a special opportunity to get your picture taken with Marilyn. The theatre volunteers are proud that our own Jamie is a Marilyn look-alike, and here she is with her sweetie, Joe (right).
The photo on the left shows faithful popcorn fans waiting for that perfect popcorn with REAL butter that can only be found at the 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam.

On Saturday, September 13, 2008, the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee presented their second concert at the 7th Street Theatre. Peforming were bands Harvey Danger, Schoolyard Heroes, Black Top Demon and Gebular. Proceeds will go toward a youth center in honor of Kurt Cobain.
We found some sites featuring videos and pictures of this concert and wanted to share these with you. The Audio Perv hosts four videos. Here is a Flickr album with some great shots taken that night. Hoquiam was buzzing on Saturday August 23rd as members of the Pacific Northwest DeLorean Club drove into town in their DeLoreans (and one Lotus!) from King County, Yakima and the Portland area to help us celebrate the showing of the 1985 classic Back to the Future starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. The Seattle contingent arrived about 3 pm stopping traffic on Simpson Avenue.
The skies were blue, temperatures high, and the DeLoreans were a sight to behold in front of the 7th Street Theatre, where we were able to block off half a block to accommodate all of them. About 12 cars showed up, and with their gull-wing doors open, brought in people from all over town to check them out. Hoquiam's annual On Track Art Festival was also in progress, and the town was alive. You can see pictures in our photo album. The theatre had a huge attendance Saturday night and the DeLorean club enjoyed it so much they want to do it again next year. What do you think?
